My buddy Dan lounsbury who I coached with here at Deer Park had to go back to Afghanistan this fall as well. He is
in the Army National guard and has
spent a year in Iraq and now is in Afghanistan. He is one of my best friends and we have argued about sports and everything else under the sun in our backyards cooking out or just hanging out. During the process of getting ready and going overseas he would show me where he is going and what he is supposed to be doing. He is defending our country and I am proud of him for that. He ask me to take him to drop him off so he and his wife Debbie could say all their goodbyes at home. Then I would drive him to Austin where they would have a little ceremony for all the men leaving. It was a really cool deal and you put in perspective what a great thing these men and women are doing for us giving up their time away from there families to protect our country. Me and Steve Matejka drove him the first time an
d then he trained. Then he came home and I drove him when he left for good. I stayed with the group for about 2 hours and then they take
you in a gym and all the men file in and a ge
neral or someone gives a speech about them leaving. It was very cool and I applaud him for everything he is doing and everything his has done for me. Keeping me laughing and argueing with him. I just want to say good luck, we will have a beer when you get back, and we are all very proud of you.
Go Raiders!!
