School started for Mady and Brad and it is still amazing to me to see Mady in 9th grade.
Brad being in 6th grade was and is also a shock. Madyson decided to play golf and basketball. She made the A team in basketball and just loves being part of a team. She went to offseason basketball during 7th period then go to golf after school. I am very proud of her for what she did, she was in tough classes, had two pap classes and one was geometry. Then she rode the bus to south and went through offseason basketball. Immediately when the bell rang she came to my office and I would take her to the golf course and she would practice that. She wouldn’t get home until about 6 then have to do her homework. Not very many 9th graders would do all that work and I am very proud of her. It seems like she is having a good year and her grades have been great for the first semester. Ill talk about basketball and golf more in a separate post.
Brad is a very social bug and his 6th grade year has started great. He loves sports and is always spending time in the gym shooting basketballs or running around with his buddies at the junior high football games. He is also doing good with his grades. I worry about him in the afternoon and am proud of him in the same n
ote. He goes to school and the rides the bus home. He only walks about half a block home but he is sometimes there by himself until about 6 if we have things going on with Mady or work. Well he has done a great job of doing his homework before playing his xbox or going outside. We have never gotten home and him not done his school work. Sometimes he will have a couple questions or math problems that he can’t answer but he will immediately let us know he needs help. He also has donme a great job of being a good student and helping others.
The first day of school was good for both kids. I took a picture of them in the living room and they look so old compared to all the baby ones from them growing up. I take Mady to school and her friend Julia Savedra. We go pick her up and Mady is usually tired. Neither girl is real active or talkative so I usually try and get them to sing or something. Like during christmas time they wanted breakfast so I made them sing christmas carols before I would stop and get them anything. When they get out of the truck I will usually holler out something goofy that might embarass them such as ” let’s go underwear shopping after school!!”. They usually take off running now the minute they see me roll down the window.
But I have really enjoyed being about to spend that time with Mady and seeing her in the morning. For so many years I would leave for work before them so this year for me has been fun. Brad usually rides with Tressa. They sometimes get breakfast and i’m sure they have little things they do as well.
Bot
h kids go with Dada still on wednesday for “Donuts with Dada”. He takes them to eat breakfast and spends time with them. I think it is wonderful because they are building memories with him. He was worried that Mady being in high school she wouldn’t want to anymore but that is still one of her favorite mornings of the week. All in all the school year has really been good for both the kids. Mady has made so many new friends and is starting to open up more. She is still so funny. She has worked so hard and is doing such a great job. Brad is really maturing and becoming such a good young man. I am really proud of the work they are doing in school and such effort they are putting into all their activities.
