Summer s
tarted and Brad finished baseball.
We didn’t play select because last year he got really burned out. Looking back we should have done something because by the end of this summer he was out of shape. Mady started playing summer golf and would eventually be one of the top players in HGA in her age group. After winning at Deer Park she went on to play in about 6 tournaments and got 1st, 2nd or 3rd in most of them. She seemed to really enjoy
playin
g and I could see how she was improving. They keep point totals on tournaments so she was ranked in the top 10 at the end of the summer. Since she was ranked in the top 10 she was invited to play in the “Tournament of Champions” at Augusta Pines. It is a big deal and a great accomplishment. The place was beautiful and she played against some great players. We told her to just do her best and it would be a learning experience. It was a 2 day tournament. She finished in the middle of the pack but it was a great experience for her. Brad was spending his time lounging around the house during the summer. He went to football camp, Basketball camp, an
d Baseball camp. So he did actually do some exercising this summer. Mady also played in a tournament with Meredith Wadsworth at a course in Sugarland that was for charity. It was sponsored by the HGA put she got no points for it.
She was to play with a group of 4 ladies that would play a scarmble and the money went to a girl’s scholarship. Mady would play her own ball and the ladies would playa scamble. It was a neat deal and afterward Mady would get to eat lunch with the ladies in the clubhouse. I thought it was really cool to see Mady interact with these ladies during and after the tournament. She played in a couple of good tournaments at Eagle point and in Baytown where she will play alot in high school. She did very good and was
on track to breakl 100 when it got shut down for lightning. She did finish first though. She met alot of new friends from other places which I thought was very cool.
I am so very proud of her this summer. She played hard and grew as a person . I look forward to seeing her continue to grow and mature in golf and in life.
